For some time now we have been scheming about how we could get our hands on a school bus. Literally, once we discovered the world of skoolie conversions we couldn’t stop thinking about it! It became a constant topic of discussion and simply a matter of how and how soon we could make it happen. It just felt right. We wanted to use wisdom and carefully think this whole process out, but on the other hand we also knew that sometimes you just have to put yourself out there and chase after what makes you come alive! It certainly wasn’t going to just happen if we stuck to day dreaming about it. We had to take action.

Once we started searching out school buses that were for sale and where our funds were going to come from, doors started opening. We felt that this was confirmation! Yesterday, the last day of June 2017, we went and picked up our bus! We are pretty sure we have a name chosen for it, but we will hold off on announcing it just yet.
Now, let’s be perfectly clear about something, we know this isn’t going to be a piece of cake. Especially considering we have 5 young children… But we aren’t afraid of hard work, and we are certainly as acclimated as one can be to chaos. I say chaos because there will be plenty of chaos and crazy when it comes to traveling as a family of 7 on a school bus! But that is where you get to follow along and shake your head in disbelief, all the while being entertained. 😉
Tomorrow we set out to compare paint samples and get the ball rolling on the conversion. Our goal is to really focus and start knocking things out quickly! We plan on hitting the road in our unfinished bus next week just to get our feet wet (and because we are eager). Michigan will be our first skoolie adventure! Fingers crossed!
